Venezia 2–1 Udinese: Pérez settles a rapid second-half exchange
Venezia recovered from Udinese’s quick equaliser to win 2–1, with Pérez’s long-range finish deciding a game that was goalless at half-time.
Venezia beat Udinese 2–1 at the Penzo on Friday, 6 November. All three goals came in a twelve-minute spell after a goalless first half.
A lead, an equaliser and another answer
Udinese’s official report describes Stanković saving from Davis and Ekkelenkamp early in the second half. Bašić then put Venezia ahead in the 53rd minute.
A Moreno own goal, created by Davis’s involvement, brought Udinese level four minutes later. Pérez restored Venezia’s lead in the 65th with a shot from distance into the top corner.
The club’s account also records Stanković recovering to deal with a later Chakvetadze lob. Udinese finished the night with five league points.
Why the opening of the half mattered
Our analysis: Venezia’s winning sequence began with work at the other end. The saves before Bašić’s opener prevented Udinese from turning their early second-half chances into a lead.
The equaliser then removed Venezia’s advantage, but it lasted only eight minutes before Pérez scored. That quick response meant the own goal changed the score without becoming the final turning point.
The result rewards both parts of Venezia’s performance described in the report: keeping out dangerous attempts and finding a second scoring action after the setback.
