Strasbourg beat Auxerre 5–1 on 1 November. Gessime Yassine scored in the 77th and 85th minutes, extending a lead Strasbourg had already established before Lamfia Dioubaté’s dismissal.

The advantage came before the extra player

The ESPN event record places Dário Essugo’s opener in the 41st minute and Martial Godo’s goal in the 55th. Cameron Archer’s reply made the score 3–1 after 68 minutes. Dioubaté was shown a red card in the 74th.

That order matters to the explanation. The dismissal changed the closing conditions, but it did not create Strasbourg’s lead. Our reading is that it helped define the final phase of a match in which Auxerre were already trying to recover a two-goal deficit.

Yassine made the closing phase count

Yassine’s first goal came from a Sebastian Nanasi assist; his second was a close-range header from Oso’s cross. The late double changed the margin without changing which side had been ahead before the red card.

Strasbourg finished with 19 shots to Auxerre’s six, six efforts on target to two, and 64.3 per cent possession. Those totals support an account of sustained home attacking volume. They do not isolate how much of the advantage came during the final spell against ten players.

The next league appointment

Strasbourg visit Toulouse on 6 November at 19:45 UTC (21:45 CAT). The useful follow-up is whether they can reproduce the progress and finishing that built this lead, rather than expecting another match to supply the same numerical advantage.
