A two-goal platform before the interval

Paris FC beat Monaco 3–1 at Stade Jean Bouin on 1 November. Lassine Sinayoko scored in the 38th and 44th minutes, giving the hosts a two-goal advantage at half-time. Maxime Lopez supplied the opener; Moses Simon set up the second. The club’s match centre also records the venue and opening goal; its retrieved live snapshot lagged behind the final result.

Paris answer Monaco’s reply

In the completed ESPN event record, Folarin Balogun pulled a goal back in the 65th minute from Vanderson’s cross. Pablo Pagis restored the two-goal margin nine minutes later, with Sinayoko providing the assist. The final record was checked after full time on 1 November.

Why the shot numbers matter

Paris produced 19 attempts and 10 shots on target against Monaco’s nine attempts and two on target, despite having 44.4% possession. Our reading is that the hosts made their attacking opportunities count more often: possession and threatening the goalkeeper were different measures in this game.

The timing of Pagis’s goal also matters to the scoreline. Monaco had reduced the deficit to one; Paris then restored a cushion rather than leaving the contest at 2–1. That is a clear turning point in the scoring sequence, without assuming the statistics reveal every detail of the tactical contest.
