New England 1–2 Inter Miami: Messi creates equaliser and scores late winner
Germán Berterame cancels out Dániel Gazdag’s opener before Lionel Messi’s 83rd-minute goal gives Inter Miami a 2–1 comeback win at New England.
Miami turn the game after going behind
Inter Miami beat New England Revolution 2–1 in their 1 November MLS fixture. Dániel Gazdag put the hosts ahead in the 53rd minute from Ilay Feingold’s assist. Germán Berterame equalised with a header in the 69th minute after Lionel Messi’s headed pass, before Messi scored the winner in the 83rd minute from Telasco Segovia’s assist. The completed ESPN event record confirms full time.
Messi’s two contributions change the scoreline
Our reading is that the scoring sequence is the clearest route into this result. Miami were behind with more than half the match played, then equalised and took the lead through two different finishers. Messi’s assist and goal are verified actions within that comeback, without needing to attribute every change in the contest to one player.
Shots on target supply another measure
Miami finished with 45.1% possession, 14 attempts and six shots on target. New England recorded 54.9% possession, 13 attempts and three on target. The overall attempt totals were close, but Miami put twice as many efforts on target. That distinction adds context to the away victory; possession alone would give an incomplete account.
This report uses the completed match record. It does not infer a playoff seed from the result without a separately verified table and the remaining fixtures.
