Harit and Gouiri build the lead

Marseille beat Toulouse 2–0 at the Vélodrome on 1 November. Amine Harit scored in the first minute with a right-footed shot from outside the box, assisted by Amine Gouiri. Gouiri added the second in the 25th minute from Igor Paixão’s headed pass. The completed ESPN event record confirms full time; this report replaces our live updates.

The score does not tell the whole attacking story

Toulouse finished with 56.4% possession, 14 attempts and seven shots on target. Marseille recorded 13 attempts and three on target. Our reading is that the clean sheet and early finishing matter more to this result than an assumption that Marseille dominated every attacking measure.

Two goals before the half-hour gave the hosts a different game to manage. Toulouse’s shot numbers show that the away side still reached shooting positions, while the final score confirms those attempts did not produce a goal. Those are separate facts: it would be misleading to describe the win as proof that Toulouse offered no threat.

The next league dates

Toulouse host Strasbourg on 6 November at 20:45 CET (19:45 UTC; 21:45 CAT). Marseille visit Lens on 8 November at the same time. Those appointments are listed in the Ligue 1 programme and have been cross-checked against the current fixture feed.
