Manchester United came from 2–0 down to beat Roma 3–2 at Old Trafford on 3 November. ESPN’s match record, checked at 21:56 UTC, confirms the completed result.

Cunha turns the match in three minutes

Matías Soulé put Roma ahead in the 11th minute, assisted by Rodrigo Mora, and Donyell Malen converted a penalty in the 17th. Bruno Fernandes replied from the penalty spot in the 58th minute.

Matheus Cunha equalised from close range in the 83rd minute, then scored the winner in the 86th from the right side of the box. Shea Lacey supplied the assist for the winning goal.

United’s second-half response

United finished with 15 shots and six on target to Roma’s seven and four. Possession was 52.4% to 47.6% in United’s favour.

Our reading is that Fernandes’ penalty kept the deficit manageable, while Cunha’s rapid double transformed the closing stages. The final totals support a stronger volume of United attempts, but the decisive difference was converting those late opportunities.

The selection backdrop

Gasperini’s official pre-match update had confirmed Pellegrini, Dybala and Koné were missing and Mora was fit. Those were the circumstances behind Roma’s preparation; the final score records how the match ultimately turned.

Baleba injury confirmed after the win

Manchester United subsequently confirmed that Carlos Baleba suffered a hamstring injury against Roma, with the club attributing the confirmation to Michael Carrick. That adds a fitness concern to the result; we have not verified a recovery timetable.
