Two late goals decide it

Lommel SK beat KAA Gent 2–0 on 1 November, with Juho Talvitie breaking the deadlock in the 82nd minute and Djordje Gordic adding the second in the 87th. The completed ESPN match record, checked at 21:25 CAT, confirms the final score and both scorers. The teams had been level at half-time.

A close attempt count, a clearer target advantage

Lommel registered 16 attempts to Gent’s 15, but led seven to four in shots on target and held 58.8% possession. Our reading is that the overall attempt count makes the contest look more even than the number of efforts that tested the goal. Neither statistic alone explains how every chance developed, but together they provide more context than the score by itself.

The scoring sequence is also revealing: the game remained goalless deep into the second half before Lommel scored twice in five minutes. That late change matters when interpreting the margin. A two-goal final score does not mean the hosts had a comfortable lead throughout.

The significance of the opponent

In its official match information, Lommel described Gent as the unbeaten league leader before kickoff. The home victory therefore carries weight beyond the clean sheet. That pre-match description supplies context; we are not treating it as an updated league table after the evening’s other fixtures.
