Kortrijk 1–3 Mechelen: late turnaround settles rearranged league match
Kortrijk led through Thierry Ambrose, but Mechelen scored three times from the 69th minute to win the postponed Belgian league fixture.
KV Mechelen beat KV Kortrijk 3–1 at Guldensporenstadion on Wednesday 4 November. ESPN’s completed match record confirms the final score of the rearranged Belgian Pro League fixture.
Kortrijk’s lead slips away
Thierry Ambrose broke the deadlock for Kortrijk in the 53rd minute. Myron van Brederode equalised in the 69th, before Mechelen took the lead in the 72nd minute and added a third in second-half stoppage time.
The decisive shift
The equaliser and go-ahead goal were separated by only three minutes. That short spell transformed Kortrijk’s task from protecting a lead to chasing the match. Mechelen’s stoppage-time third then put a two-goal margin on the turnaround.
A fixture completed after the storm postponement
The clubs’ official notices confirm the match had originally been scheduled for 23 October before storm conditions forced its postponement. It was rearranged for 4 November at 20:30 CET.
