Novak Djokovic came from a set down to beat Valentin Vacherot 6–7, 7–5, 6–1 in the Rolex Paris Masters first round on Tuesday, 3 November.
ESPN’s tournament record, checked at 16:25 UTC (18:25 CAT), marks the match completed and Djokovic as the winner. Vacherot took the opening-set tiebreak 7–5.
A close contest opens up in the decider
The first two sets gave neither player much separation: a tiebreak settled the opener, and Djokovic took the second by two games. The deciding set produced a much wider margin, with Vacherot winning one game.
Djokovic won 19 games to Vacherot’s 13 overall. Our reading is that the final set explains the eventual gap more clearly than the aggregate alone: through two sets Djokovic led 13–12 in games, before taking six of the final seven.
