Borussia Dortmund host Elversberg at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, 7 November, at 15:30 CET (14:30 UTC; 16:30 CAT). It is their first Bundesliga meeting, with the promoted visitors arriving in seventh place.

Guirassy misses out

Dortmund confirmed on Friday that Serhou Guirassy will not be in the squad after a right-thigh strain against Real Betis on Wednesday. The club has not established how long he will be unavailable.

Marcel Sabitzer is nearing a squad return after illness kept him out of that Champions League match. His expected return does not confirm a starting place.

A short turnaround

The fixture is Dortmund’s ninth competitive match within a month. They beat Betis 2–1 and completed their final training session on Friday morning.

BVB have won six and drawn one of their last seven Bundesliga games against promoted clubs. That record describes a category of opponents; Saturday begins a new Bundesliga head-to-head with Elversberg.

What to watch

Our analysis: the selection question is how Dortmund reorganise their attack without Guirassy while managing another short gap between matches. Sabitzer’s potential return broadens the midfield options, but it does not settle the choice of forwards. Confirmed team sheets will provide that answer closer to kickoff.
