Kane signs through 2029 as Bayern prepare for Mainz
Bayern have confirmed Harry Kane’s contract through 30 June 2029. The announcement settles a squad-planning question before Saturday’s trip to Mainz.
Kane’s extension is confirmed
Harry Kane has signed a new Bayern Munich contract through 30 June 2029, the club announced on 5 November. Bayern’s statement records 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances since his arrival in summer 2023.
Our reading: the immediate significance is continuity in Bayern’s planning around their centre-forward. A confirmed contract end date resolves a question about his future; it does not determine the result of the next match. Saturday’s trip to Mainz still asks a separate footballing question about extending Bayern’s long unbeaten league run away from home.
Two records frame Saturday’s test
Bayern visit Mainz at the MEWA Arena on 7 November at 15:30 CET (14:30 UTC; 16:30 CAT). The club’s 4 November statistical briefing puts Bayern’s unbeaten Bundesliga away run at 30 games: 22 wins and eight draws.
Mainz have earned one point from four home league matches this season. Yet Bayern have lost four of their last six league visits there. That contrast makes this a useful test of present form against a difficult recent venue history.
Our reading: Mainz’s opening phase deserves particular attention. Bayern’s briefing counts six goals conceded by Mainz in the first 15 minutes this league season, and 17 across their last six matches overall. Those figures identify a vulnerability Bayern can try to attack; they do not guarantee another early goal.
What the Klassiker left behind
Bayern’s 2–2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on 31 October has been followed by confirmed injury updates for Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry. The Bundesliga’s report dated 2 November says Saibari has undergone surgery after partially tearing a ligament in his right ankle following a collision with Gregor Kobel.
Gnabry suffered a muscle injury at the back of his left thigh. Both players left the Klassiker during the first half. Bayern have announced no recovery timetable for either player.
How Dortmund twice recovered
Konrad Laimer gave Bayern a first-half lead, and Dayot Upamecano later put them ahead again. Serhou Guirassy and Fabio Silva supplied Dortmund’s replies. Harry Kane also missed a second-half penalty when Bayern were leading 1–0.
Our reading: the verified sequence makes this more than a case of a half-time lead slipping away. Bayern had two leads, while the injuries now add a separate question about how they distribute the available attacking roles in the games ahead.
Mainz is the next Bundesliga appointment
Bayern visit Mainz at the MEWA Arena on Saturday, 7 November, at 15:30 CET (14:30 UTC; 16:30 CAT). The club’s confirmed schedule also places Köln at home on 20 November at 20:30 CET (21:30 CAT), and Hamburg away on 28 November at 15:30 CET (16:30 CAT).
Those fixtures establish the coming domestic schedule. Further club updates will determine when Saibari and Gnabry can return; a specific comeback match has not been confirmed.
