The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6–4 in NLCS Game 4 on 15 October 2026, completing a 4–0 series sweep and reaching the World Series for the first time since 1982. Milwaukee trailed 4–0 early, then scored six unanswered runs. This was a clincher shaped less by one dramatic reversal than by repeated answers across the middle innings.

How Milwaukee turned Game 4 around

The Dodgers had an opening that could have extended their season. Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run home run in the second inning, and Los Angeles led 4–0. In an elimination game, that margin put the Brewers under immediate pressure: they had to prevent the lead from growing while creating enough separate scoring chances to erase it. The early score also argues against treating a four-game sweep as four untroubled Milwaukee wins.

Milwaukee's response came in stages. Two runs in the fourth inning cut the deficit in half; two more in the fifth made it 4–4. Garrett Mitchell's home run in the sixth put the Brewers ahead, and David Hamilton added an insurance home run in the ninth. The sequence matters. The Brewers did not need a single huge inning or a last-out escape to finish the series; they kept converting opportunities until the game had changed hands, then added a buffer before the final out.

The Game 4 match record has the final score and timing. MLB's official schedule lists Los Angeles as the home team and marks the game final at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium. The official Brewers video describes six unanswered Milwaukee runs, matching the progression from 4–0 down to 6–4 ahead.

A sweep with a different closing test

A 4–0 NLCS result is decisive in the standings, but Game 4 tested a different quality from protecting an early advantage. Los Angeles produced the kind of start that can tilt an elimination game, while Milwaukee had to stay patient enough to recover without assuming one swing would fix everything. The runs in the fourth and fifth restored parity; Mitchell's sixth-inning homer supplied the lead only after that groundwork.

That distinction is useful when reading the series. Milwaukee had already moved within one win of the pennant with its Game 3 victory. Game 4 did not simply repeat that result. It showed the Brewers could absorb an early four-run deficit on the road and still close the matchup before a fifth game was required. It is an achievement in a long postseason, not evidence that every future deficit will be recoverable.

What the World Series berth does—and does not—settle

The confirmed outcome is a National League pennant and Milwaukee's first World Series appearance in 44 years. The American League opponent had not yet been decided when this result was checked, so projecting a particular matchup would outrun the evidence. Nor does a sweep remove the warning contained in those first two innings: a World Series opponent can punish an early lapse just as sharply as the Dodgers did.

For now, the most defensible conclusion is narrower and stronger than a title prediction. Milwaukee finished this series unbeaten, answered its hardest Game 4 start with six consecutive runs and earned its place in the Fall Classic. The next test will ask whether the same combination of sustained scoring and recovery can hold against a different opponent; the NLCS result establishes the opportunity, not the outcome.
