Anaheim beat Edmonton 5–4 at Rogers Place in the NHL game dated 5 November locally, finishing in regulation. Mintyukov and Sennecke scored twice each for the Ducks.

The response that built the lead

McDavid’s short-handed goal at 2:34 of the second period put Edmonton ahead 2–1. Mintyukov equalised at 3:37 and scored again at 6:15, turning that deficit into an Anaheim lead within the same period.

Sennecke added another at 19:22 of the second and a power-play goal at 1:42 of the third. Anaheim then led 5–2.

Why the finish stayed close

Kapanen scored on the power play at 16:24 of the third, and Draisaitl made it 5–4 at 19:15. That left 45 seconds in regulation, but Edmonton did not draw level.

Our analysis: Anaheim’s four-goal run after falling behind supplied the margin that ultimately protected the win. The two late Edmonton goals changed the pressure without changing the outcome. Sennecke’s second goal became decisive because the hosts recovered two of their three-goal deficit.

The scoring sequence supports both sides of that assessment: Anaheim produced a strong response to McDavid’s goal, then needed the advantage it had built to survive the final minutes.
